My Classroom Policies

I teach high school because I feel students are ready to make choices about how they should act. This includes being responsible for your learning.

  1. If you miss a class, it is you responsibility to get the notes or assignments you missed. Ask someone in class, look in the filing cabinet where I am trying to always print off one or two extra, or check the website
  2. You are expected to be responsible. If you want to listen to an ipod while you work, no problem as long as it doesn't interfere with someone else. If you want to eat, no problem, as long as it doesn't interfere with someone else. etc. I expect that you are old enough to make positive decisions. If you do not, I will help you
  3. I encourage you to work with a partner doing assignments. BUT, you need to do it quietly. Respect the class, and WHISPER
  4. For every test, you can bring in your formula sheet (which I provide) and a study sheet. A study sheet is an 8" x 11" single side piece of paper. You can put anything you want on that sheet. An encouraging note from home to do well, a joke to lighten the mood, or perhaps some examples of problems that will be on the test.
  5. I leave at my discretion the value of a test. For example, if a test is worth 52 marks, and the top mark in the class is 48, I may reduce the total marks to be 48, or 49, or 46. It is up to me, and that decision is not made until after I mark the test. This is to insure that a test was not too long, or too hard. You will never get extra time on the test, unless you have an IPP that specifically says that you get extra time on the test
  6. BE ON TIME AND PREPARED TO WORK

Websites I like
