“Kids are exciting. Like all the staff here, I care about the mind and heart of every student. It's a great joy to help them discover who God made them to be.”

Gwen, middle school principal and former parent

The goal of the teaching staff at CCS is to motivate each student as they work towards achieving excellence in all they do. This doesn’t mean we expect straight A’s and perfect spiritual lives from our students.

Excellence at CCS means striving for personal bests. It is about challenging preconceived notions of what we are good at and daring to try what scares us. It is about developing our gifts and using them to impact the world.

Excellence comes in many forms. Whether that be engineering or art school, CCS will challenge each student to not only achieve their personal best but to reach beyond it. With its dynamic staff, CCS works hard to develop strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of each student that walks through the door.

Excellence is about developing the entire person—intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially and artistically. These five elements of excellence are core to our educational philosophy.

You may wonder if a element for spiritual excellence is missing. It certainly wasn’t forgotten. In fact, it was intentional. CCS believes faith must be integrated into everything we do. It is the framework from which everything else is found.

God is present in every math equation and music note. Integrating faith into learning is what a Christian school should be. It is a core part of every pillar of excellence because faith is not something to practice once a week at chapel (though we do have chapel!). It should be something we ponder, praise and struggle with everyday. That’s what the founders of CCS believed 45 years ago and that’s what we strive for today.

At our school, we call this philosophy the Five Elements of Excellence.

Intellectual Excellence
Artistic Excellence
Emotional Excellence
Social Excellence
Physical Excellence
