Grade 2

Welcome to a new school year!

2023-2024 is going to be filled with new adventures and unknowns, but through it all we can trust that God has this!  None of what happens surprises Him.  He is good and righteous, so we can choose to trust and surrender each day to Him, and look forward in anticipation to what He has planned.  My focus verse (simplified) this year is from our theme verse: “…Love one another. As I have loved you…” Jesus (John 13:34-35)   This gives me a focus for when things hit a season of crazy and life becomes more chaotic than normal.  The simplicity of these words, I believe, will keep me grounded and focused on Him.  It is from Him where I draw all strength and that gives me encouragement and a sense of peace, and I hope it does the same for you as we navigate another new school year together!

I am excited to be part of the grade 2 teaching team at Calgary Christian SchoolThis is my fifth year teaching grade 2 at CCS, although I have over 16 years teaching grade 1 to grade 9 and over 14 years teaching in children’s ministry K-6.  It is my desire to see children grow to live out God’s purpose, and as a teacher, help guide them on this journey!

N.T. Wright in ‘Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense’ stated that we “exist primarily … to worship God and to work for his kingdom in the world … we also exist to encourage one another, to build one another up in faith, to pray with and for one another, to learn from one another and teach one another, and to set one another examples to follow, challenges to take up, and urgent tasks to perform.”   As a teacher, mom, wife, friend, and a daughter to the King, this is a statement with which I relate.  When I think of the Throughlines we teach at CCS, I also feel Community Builder is one with which I resonate best and which encompasses the above statement in how I try to live.

My Deep Hope for your child is that they will know “whose” they are… that they are God’s child.  It is my desire that they know they are love and created uniquely for God’s purpose; that they shape God’s world now by taking an active ownership of their faith; and that they delight in living out God’s purpose glorifying Him in the day-to-day.

I am excited this year about meeting you and our new class at CCS, and working in a faith community with a team of professionals who have a passion for meeting diverse student needs in a way that promotes children’s God given gifts and talents.  I am eager to partner with you this year and get to know you and your family!  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at tina.cassidy@pallisersd.ab.ca.
