Off Campus Teacher

Hello!  My name is Charlene Foster.  I am pleased to be the Off Campus Teacher for the Palliser schools in the Calgary region.  Off Campus programs include learning opportunities outside the regular classroom that allow students to earn credits while exploring and preparing for a variety of future pathways.

Dual Credit - High school students can apply to take approved post-secondary courses through one of our partner institutions, earning high school and post-secondary credits at the same time.  We offer a wide variety of courses including courses in business, sports management, health care, psychology, trades and more.  Applications are typically accepted in May for summer and semester one, and in November for semester two.

Work Experience -  High school students who are working (paid or volunteer) can earn credits for the hours they work.  They must complete the prerequisite course (HCS3000 Workplace Safety) and fill in the required paperwork so a site visit can be completed before they can count any hours.

RAP (Registered Apprenticeship Program) - High school students interested in pursuing a career in one of Alberta’s Designated Trades can begin their apprenticeship during high school, earning high school credits as well as hours toward their apprenticeship.

Green Certificate - High school students can earn their Green Certificate in one of 14 agricultural streams including beekeeping, equine production, greenhouse production and more.  Students learn on the job, under the direction of experienced farm personnel, preparing them for a future in agribusiness.  Their credential is based on their knowledge as demonstrated through an oral test.

For more information about any of these opportunities please check out our Off Campus website at www.palliseroffcampus.ca.

If you have further questions, you can contact me by email or schedule an appointment (online or in person).
